The Big Secret

People wonder what the fascination is with the end of the world. The correct thing to understand is people who look forward to the end of the world, don’t want the world to cease existing. What they are looking forward to is the end of the world as we know it. Kid are tested to get into Kindergarten and then it never stops. Your value to society is what these tests reflect as you grow up, and then what major your choose, and eventually what job you pick, how much money you make.

It isn’t natural.

People go off to their 40 hours a week and come home to a mortgage they sleep in.

People are getting tired of this never ending cycle. This is the hope for the Primal Age. People want to go back to a time where a person is worth what their worth, not how much their bank account says. They want a society that isn’t created to force them into debt and keep them locked their for life as unknown slaves. People want to start over. People want the thrill of surviving, not just living.

This is the answer to the question of why has the paradigm shifted from space to the Primal Age in science fiction.
